Mewar Biodiversity Park, Udaipur

In addition to the beautiful lakes and mountains, Udaipur is the location of two renowned parks that highlight the biodiversity of the area. The first is the Sajjan Garh Biological Park, and the second is the Mewar Biodiversity Park, which is located along the Nathdwara Udaipur NH8 in the heavily wooded Amberi region. The Mewar Biodiversity Park, which spans a sizable 165 hectares and is a part of the Aravali mountain range, provides a glimpse into the incredibly rich biodiversity of the Udaipur region.

The slope, height, soil type, humidity, and other geoscientific characteristics of the park's location make it a perfect habitat for a variety of plant and animal species. There are 63 different tree species, 33 different shrub types, 37 different creeper types, 117 different types of underbrush and herbs, 38 different grass types, 3 different parasite types, 2 different species of pteridophytes, and 1 variety of bamboo in the area.

Many old trees may be seen in the park, including a 300–400-year-old mango, mahua, and bargad tree. A wide range of bird, reptile, and animal species can be found in the park. There are 129 bird species that bird watchers can see, 17 reptile species that reptile lovers can see, and 17 amphibian species. You might also encounter lizards, snakes, spiders, and other creatures including jarakh, neelgai (blue bull), and more.

Students, researchers, bird aficionados, bioscientists, lovers of wildlife, and environmentalists are just a few of the people drawn in by the park's beautiful surroundings. The location is home to three to four panthers, which further enhances the park's attraction.

Infrastructure development and improvement efforts have been conducted for the park. Construction of wall fencing, the implementation of water and soil conservation measures, the beautification of roads, the creation of vistas, environmental trails, entry gates, ticketing windows, park offices, and restaurants are all projects that have been undertaken. Aspects of the park include amenities like ecotourism facilities and kid-friendly swings, as well as carefully placed educational signs. For the purpose of educating visitors about the distinctive environment of the area, the park has an interpretation centre and a biodiversity show.

Within the park, a number of specialised groves have been created, including groves for cacti, indigenous plants, tubers, and orchids. Additional attractions are planned, such as zip lines, valley crossings, tree walks, bird overlooks, butterfly habitats in the arboretum, and adventure sports like these. The verdant woodland and fragrant sandal plants allow visitors to take in the sight of dancing peacocks and playful monkeys. The park has tents accessible for anyone who want to spend the night.

Overall, the Mewar Biodiversity Park provides a fascinating opportunity for nature lovers to discover and appreciate the varied flora and fauna of the Udaipur region while taking in the peace and beauty of the surroundings.
